Winter Session Jan. 8 – Mar. 13th (No classes Thursday Feb. 15th)
Class fees (9 week session):
$80 - 2 classes/wk(early bird- before 1st class)
$95 - 2 classes/wk(first day of class or later)
$115- 3 classes/wk
$48 - 1 class/wk
$7 - drop ins
Classes are a variety of HIIT, cardio & strength training, stability ball, & kickboxing.
Monday 6:15-7 pm
Tuesday: 9:15- 10 am
Thursday: 9:15-10 am
Thursday: 6:15-7 pm
Saturday: 8:30-9:15 am
Each instructor will use a variety of equipment including: jump ropes, steps, dumbbells, resistance bands, kettle bells, and medicine balls. (A yoga style mat is required for each class) Classes include a weekly devotional/spiritual emphasis and close in prayer. All classes are taught by experienced, certified group fitness instructors.

I started attending Fitness Classes in January of 2016. My daughter invited me to join her on Monday and Thursday evening classes. I was tired of being overweight with zero energy, so I said yes. To be honest, I was terrified to join a group fitness class. I had not worked out regularly in almost ten years. I decided it was time to make a change. What’s the worst that could happen? To my surprise, I was not the only person over fifty years old. There were a variety of people who attended the class at different ages and fitness levels. No one cared that I was old and out of shape! Everyone encouraged me to push myself and to reach my goals. Kim has a true passion for health and fitness. She gave me the knowledge I needed to start my journey to become a healthier me, both spiritually and physically! I started counting my calories, eating seven to nine fruits and veggies a day, and exercising regularly. As of July 25th I have lost 25 pounds, and I have gained muscle strength and cardiovascular endurance. Thank you, Kim, for making a positive impact on my life!

I’ve attended several fitness sessions since it started in 2008. I had never considered myself to be physically strong and I didn’t have much physical endurance. While I still may not be as strong others, I have grown stronger than I was. I’ve been able to lift heavier weights, increase repetitions, and show more endurance. The instructors always have encouraging words and have this amazing way to get you to work harder than you think you can. The members of the class are also incredibly supportive of each other and are ready to cheer for you. In 2010, Kim started a running group, challenging members of the class to train and run a half-marathon. I kept coming to the class, but thought these runners were crazy! It was good for them, but I was not going to run! I could barely run more than a mile. But with continued encouragement, five years later, I became one of the crazy people. I joined the running group and completed my first half-marathon in November 2015. I can’t say enough times how encouraging it is to be a part of this ministry. You are challenged to compete with yourself, and make your own improvements. You don’t have to worry about being compared to someone else. And there are more than just physical goals. We are working to keep our body as our temple, keeping physically fit, challenged to change our nutrition and eat healthy, and we are also challenged spiritually, encouraged in our daily prayer life, Bible study, and service to others. Anyone that knows me, knows I'm a Jesus follower but I'm also a fitness nut! I enjoy keeping myself in "good" shape. I'm in my early 70's and should be "taking it easy for someone my age", however I'm not stupid! I see men my age, that are "taking life easy" and can just barely get around! My personal opinion, these men aren't "fit"! Our Fitness Ministry here at 1st Baptist is designed to help us "seniors" get fit, eat right and be accountable to ourselves and God. My encouragement to older folks reading this is: YOU can do this! Start off easy and before you know it you'll be writing a testimony about your new self! Always warm up before each workout and cool down/stretch at the end to prevent injury.
